Australian Age of Dinosaurs
Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum of Natural History is home to the world’s largest collection of Australian dinosaur fossils, including some of our countries most famous finds. You'll meet 'Australovenator', a 2-legged meat eating Raptor nicknamed 'Banjo', and a long-neck, long-tailed Titanosaur 'Diamantinasaurus', nicknamed 'Matilda' belonging to the family of the largest dinosaurs to ever roam the earth - and many of their pre-historic pals!

Waltzing Matilda Centre
The Waltzing Matilda Centre is a fully accredited Visitor Information Centre, which boasts state of the art interpretation, telling the story of Waltzing Matilda. The Centre hosts an Art Gallery, which is free to access, however all other attractions are entry by paid pass. You can grab information for your trips or just call into the Tuckerbox Cafe.

Arno's Wall
When German immigrant Arno Grotjhan dug up a valuable opal at Opalton in the 1960s, he was able to afford a house in Winton and then spent the rest of his life building Arno’s Wall. Arno’s Wall is two metres high and runs for more than 70 metres. The wall is studded with old lawnmower parts, boat propellers, old machinery from businesses in Winton, vintage typewriters, even a couple of complete motorbikes.

Lark Quarry Dinosaur Trackways
The Dinosaur Stampede National Monument reception building, including access to the trackways, is fully wheelchair accessible. The Spinifex Walk is recommended for people of reasonable mobility as there are stairs and some uneven surfaces.

Winton Truck & Machinery Museum
From its humble beginning, with a small number of heritage trucks, our community based volunteer organisation has dedicated itself to the preservation and presentation of Australia’s road transport heritage.

Opal Fossicking
The Opalton area is popular with tourists as a place to speck or noodle fragments of opal or ironstone matrix from the surface or from the spoil dumps of old workings. However, known areas of shallow ground, such as the old Brilliant Claim area, may offer the more serious fossicker a chance to dig and find that outstanding gem.

Bird Watching
Believe it or not, Opalton boasts many species of birds, some pretty rare. Matt Wright from Faunagraphic Wildlife Tours has created a list of 27 rare sited bird species, including the Opalton Grasswren. FWBIRDLIST

Royal Open Air Theatre
The Royal Theatre is one of only two of its kind still operating in Australia. Built in 1918 the Royal is a rare gem. It is operated by not-for-profit group, Winton Movies Inc. and is the home of extraordinary event experiences, from seeing your favourite stars on the silver screen to hosting your own business, arts or cultural event in a unique setting.

Bladensburg National Park
Bladensburg National Park is situated just 7km from Winton township and was once Bladensburg station, one of the original grazing properties established in Winton in the late 19th Century. The property offers the public a snapshot of station history at the old Homestead and surrounding buildings and Shearing Shed, as well as a beautiful collection of Winton’s landscapes and myriad wildlife.
